Jo Hinds Dog Behaviourist

I’m a passionate dog behaviourist with over 30 years’ experience helping dogs and their families understand behaviour from a compassionate perspective.

My journey began with my own Bullmastiff, Trojan, whose behavioural struggles sparked a fascination with why dogs behave the way they do. That led me into animal care, rescue, professional training and behaviour, and a career that has continued to evolve ever since.

I’m a Certified Animal Behaviourist (COAPE), an APDT member, assessor and accredited trainer. I’m particularly passionate about looking beyond the behaviour itself and considering the whole dog including emotions, environment, learning history, lifestyle, pain and physical wellbeing.

My approach is kind, practical and evidence-based. I don’t believe in punishment or quick fixes. Instead, I work with owners to understand what their dog is communicating, identify the reasons behind the behaviour and create realistic strategies that work for both dog and human.

Thirty years on, I’m still learning, still questioning and still fascinated by dogs because there is always more to discover.
